MEZZOMONTE

Mezzomonte landscapeMezzomonte ( some time ago called "Nuvolone") is a small village of houses of stone; it lies at 477 m. from sea-level, on a natural cliff of the mountain, so it's a privileged point to overlook the plain below. Its origin is still uncertain: by tradition it's a group of Albanian provenance, who came in this place probably to work as wood-men and charcoal-burners in service to Serenissima. More probably Mezzomonte was originated by a medioeval germanic settlement.
