THE SPRINGS OF LIVENZA
Near the Sanctuary or the Trinity "La Santissima", the charming
springs of Livenza lie. These springs have a singular characteristic: although their
waters surface at few tens of metres above sea-level, they suddenly form a river with
considerable flow rate, so great as to be navigable from springs. As related by legends,
this place was scenery of propitiatory rites for fertility and destination of pilgrimages
to a monument erected in memory of a Trinity apparition to a local inhabitant. The
Church or the Trinity, built between '300 and '500, overlooks all the area around the
spring. This church is characterized by a wide arcade before the facade; its interior is
adorned by a magnificent wooden high altar with a tabernacle by Domenico da Tolmezzo
(1496), a valuable wooden choir, numerous altar -pieces and frescos.
